Laborie is one of the southern most districts of the island, neighboring the district of Viex Fort, meaning you are only 20 minutes from the airport, and one of the largest cities in Saint Lucia. The main village (Laborie) was first known as “L’Islet à Caret”, or “L’Anse Kawet”, after the sea turtles that once nested in the bay before early colonization of the island. The turtles likely made this their grounds due to the reefs that shelter the bay of the district, which provides for some great snorkeling. Laborie is home to a number of boutique hotels, nestled around Rudy John beach park and Laborie Beach including the historic Balenbouche Estate. There are other boutique hotels at higher altitudes with breathtaking views of the bays and the neighboring island of St Vincent.
